We live in a world filled with opinions. Every day we are told what to believe, how to live, and what should make us happy. But opinions change, culture changes, and even our own feelings can change.
That is why I believe we need something that doesn’t change: God’s Word.
The Bible gives us a standard for how we live, not because it answers every question about our future, but because it gives us God’s wisdom for the journey.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
I love that picture. A lamp doesn’t always show us the entire road ahead. Sometimes it simply gives us enough light to take the next step.
The Bible teaches us how to love, forgive, make wise choices, handle difficult situations, treat others, and walk through life’s challenges. But we have to use it wisely. We shouldn’t simply look for verses that support what we already want to believe. We need to read Scripture in context, seek understanding, and allow God’s Word to shape us.
When we don’t know which direction to take, we can pray, seek wise counsel, and turn to Scripture for guidance.
The world will continue to change. Our circumstances will change. But God’s truth remains.
So perhaps the question isn’t always, “What do I want to do?”
Maybe we should first ask:
“What does God’s Word say?”
When we build our lives on that foundation, we may not know everything about the road ahead, but we can trust the One who does.
And sometimes, that’s all the direction we need for the next step.
Blessings,
Michelle
